Board of Directors
Richard Romano | Secretary
I am Managing Editor of WhatTheyThink (whattheythink.com), the leading news and information portal and print publication for the graphic communications industry, for which I write feature articles and data analysis, coordinate news items, and organize and host a regular LunchNLearn Webinar series. I also conduct and write WhatTheyThink’s annual Print Outlook survey and corresponding report, and am the author or co-author of a half-dozen books on the subject of the commercial printing industry. In 2024, I will serve as managing editor of the “show daily” for a two-week trade show in Germany in May/June. Outside the printing industry, since 2010, I have also written numerous research reports for Library Journal magazine, including 2021’s massive, international “State of Academic Libraries” report, and contribute to the magazine itself occasionally. Having moved to Saratoga in 2000, I had previously served on the Board of the sadly-defunct Saratoga Film Forum and have volunteered for various local organizations over the years.
How long have you lived in the area and what do you love about Saratoga?
I moved to Saratoga in October 2000, after three years in LA and eight years in New York City. I liked its walkability and that “city in the country” feel it has striven to maintain.
Where is your favorite local place to connect with nature?
Having relocated to Luther Forest in Malta, I have nature almost literally on my doorstep, which is perhaps a bit closer than I am entirely comfortable with. But as an avid runner, the various trails in the area—be it Spring Run, Zim Smith, and of course the State Park etc.—are good places to get my nature fix.
