Beth Plummer

I Joined Sustainable Saratoga in January 2024 and serve as volunteer Media & Press Coordinator. In this role I’m responsible for trying to secure press coverage of all Sustainable Saratoga events and initiatives. My interest in sustainability grew from our family’s love of outdoor recreation and wanting to preserve undeveloped spaces for people to enjoy and for animals to call home.

How long have you lived in the area and what do you love about Saratoga?
I moved to Saratoga in 1990. I love the vibrance and energy of downtown, the beauty and majesty of the Spa State Park, the quaintness of Congress Park, the variety of services, shops, and restaurants. Saratoga is close to the Adirondacks, Montreal, and New York City.

What is your interest/passion related to sustainability?
My interest in the environment and sustainability was born when I was in high school, learning about a man named Al Gore and his efforts to shine the light on a growing problem. About 40 years later, we are living the reality of climate change. I believe that we cannot give up and should do everything we can as individuals, a community, a human race to treat our world properly and with respect. I have solar panels on my house and own my second electric car. Joining Sustainable Saratoga was another step in that direction.

Where is your favorite local place to connect with nature?
My favorite truly local place is Saratoga Spa State Park where I play tennis, cross-country ski, rollerblade, and enjoy outdoor concerts. A little farther away, I connect with nature while hiking and skiing in the Adirondacks. And sometimes in Vermont, too.
