David Washburn

I have called Saratoga Springs “home” since 1990, moving here with my wife Demetria after graduate school at Syracuse University to become a sportswriter (and then sports editor) at The Saratogian. I worked at the Times Union for eight years then Time Warner Cable for 15 before finding my way to the financial industry. Currently, I work at Broadview Federal Credit Union where I am transitioning from Senior Multimedia Producer to Project Manager. I think Saratoga Springs is a gem of a city that offers a unique lifestyle. My passion for sustainability and the environment started in high school in the 1980s. I read magazine articles about Al Gore in my school’s library and subsequently read his book “Earth in the Balance.” I’m involved in Sustainable Saratoga’s Climate and Energy Committee and look forward to helping more people become involved with Sustainable Saratoga and its mission. When I’m not working, I enjoy tennis, cross-country skiing, Telemark skiing, hiking, biking, and being outdoors in general.
