SUMMARY:Introduction to Composting
DESCRIPTION:Confused about the best way to deal with the organic waste your household generates? Have you tried composting in the past and been frustrated by the result? The goal of this workshop is to demystify the process and help folks set up their own back yard composting system with minimum expense and (hopefully) maximum success.\n\nThis workshop will be led by Jennifer Armstrong.\nJennifer Armstrong has been gardening since childhood. Making compost for the garden has always been a strong motivation\, and now keeping food waste out of the landfill is an additional motivation. She is the Chair of Sustainable Saratoga’s Compost Committee\, and has led numerous workshops in the area to help people get started with composting – whether they want the end product for their garden or not.\nIntroduction to Composting is co-sponsored by Pitney Meadows Community Farm and Sustainable Saratoga.\n\nSustainable Saratoga is a not-for-profit organization that promotes sustainable practices and the protection of natural resources\, through education\, advocacy and action\, for the benefit of current and future generations in the Saratoga Springs area. The organization’s projects and events focus on 5 categories within sustainability: zero waste\, urban forestry\, pollinators\, land use\, and climate and energy.\nFounded in 2016\, Pitney Meadows Community Farm’s mission is to celebrate and explore agricultural education\, healthy food production\, and recreation on this preserved working farm. Located on 166 acres in the heart of the City of Saratoga Springs and preserved in perpetuity as a working farm\, Pitney Meadows is a unique resource. We’re committed to being good stewards of the land and serving the community that invested their tax dollars to preserve the Farm as open space.\n\n\nRegister here: https://secure.lglforms.com/form_engine/s/j-KnU5jzqisq0yQzZ139eA?t=1711123471
