Did you know you can keep composting your food scraps even after the leaves fall and the snow begins to fly? This workshop will address how to optimize your fall leaf cleanup and ready your back yard compost system for hibernation. Beginning composters welcome.

This workshop will be led by Jennifer Armstrong.
Jennifer Armstrong has been gardening since childhood. Making compost for the garden has always been a strong motivation, and now keeping food waste out of the landfill is an additional motivation. She is the chair of Sustainable Saratoga’s Compost Committee, and has led numerous workshops in the area to help people get started with composting – whether they want the end product for their garden or not.

Sustainable Saratoga is a not-for-profit organization that promotes sustainable practices and the protection of natural resources, through education, advocacy and action, for the benefit of current and future generations in the Saratoga Springs area. The organization’s projects and events focus on 5 categories within sustainability: zero waste, urban forestry, pollinators, land use, and climate and energy.

Founded in 2016, Pitney Meadows Community Farm’s mission is to celebrate and explore agricultural education, healthy food production, and recreation on this preserved working farm. Located on 166 acres in the heart of the City of Saratoga Springs and preserved in perpetuity as a working farm, Pitney Meadows is a unique resource. We’re committed to being good stewards of the land and serving the community that invested their tax dollars to preserve the Farm as open space.
