Michael Lobsinger and Peter Lion from the Center of Economic Growth representing the New York State Energy Research & Development Authority (NYSERDA) will discuss the topics of renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainability.  They will discuss these topics in the context of what you can do to be more sustainable, the resources available to you as a home owner or business, and the impacts of making sustainable choices.

Guest Speakers

LobsingerMichael Lobsinger is the Senior Regional Outreach Coordinator (ROC) for NYSERDA’s Economic Development Growth Extension (EDGE) Program.  Michael provides outreach to commercial, industrial, and residential groups to promote the value of energy efficiency, sustainable growth practices, and development of clean and renewable energy technologies and innovations.  The program’s economic aim is to build New York State’s economy by growing energy related technical jobs, increasing manufacturing and deployment of energy efficient products, and building next generation infrastructure that will both attract new companies to the region as well as prepare the region for expected growth.

Michael has more than 16 years experience ranging from engineering and product development to business development and operations.  Prior to joining CEG in 2013, he was director of an incubator program, an entrepreneur, and a senior engineer at Boeing.  Michael earned a BS in mechanical engineering from North Dakota State University and a MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

PeterHeadShotPeter Lion is a Regional Outreach Contractor (ROC) for the Economic Development Growth Extension (EDGE) Program. In this capacity he works throughout the Capital Region to match energy project needs with available funding opportunities and other economic development resources. It is through these project opportunities that Peter is able to spur local investment and job growth that align with regional and state goals to advance renewable energy deployment, energy efficient upgrades, CO2 reduction, innovation and an overall development of a resilient infrastructure that is ready to meet the challenges of the future.

Peter has a strong interdisciplinary background in Sustainability and Environmental Science. He earned a BS in Environmental Science from Calvin College, a MS in Sustainable Development from Linköping University, and has worked in Belize, Central America and Linköping, Sweden. Prior to joining CEG Peter was a Residential Home Energy Auditor for the Empower NY Program. He strongly believes that education and stakeholder involvement are fundamental components of developing a holistic sustainable development strategy.
